Bridalveil Falls

Bridalveil Fall is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Yosemite Valley in California, seen yearly by millions of visitors to Yosemite National Park.

Bridalveil Fall is 620 feet (188 m) high and flows year round. The glaciers that imprinted Yosemite Valley left many execution valleys which spawned the waterfalls that decant into the valley. All of the waterways that fed these falls imprinted the hanging valleys into sheer cascades with the exception of Bridalveil Fall. Bridalveil still leaps into the valley from the rim of the precipice, though that edge has moved back into a recess from the unique edge of the valley. Note that while Yosemite Falls seem to also drop into this category, the original course took the Yosemite Creek down a gorge to the west of its present location. The primary source of Bridalveil Falls is Ostrander Lake, some 10 miles to the south.

Minnehaha Falls

Minnehaha Falls is situated in Minneapolis Minnesota. The falls is in Minnehaha Park, a big city park on the shores of the Mississipi River. The park includes picnic areas, trails, sculpture and the 53 foot falls. The park is positioned off of Hiawatha Ave.

There is a bridge now above the falls, and trails that go downward into the gorge on both sides, and another bridge under the falls. The trails continue the length of the creek. I consider you can follow the trail all the way to the Mississipi, which is less than 1/2 mile left from the falls.

There are viewing areas on both sides of the gorge and at the base of the gorge. There are caution signs and small fences to discourage you from getting closer to the falls, but is clear that many people do. From the look of it you could get at the back the falls.

But if you are there in May, it is very imposing. It falls off a cliff after that to El Capitan, on the opposite side of the vale from Bridalveil Falls. There are many points in the park to vision the falls, but the best is approximately surely just past Bridalveil Falls down Southside Drive at road marker V14. There are no trails to the bottom or top of the falls.

Horsetail Falls

Horsetail Fall, situated in Yosemite National Park in California, is a seasonal waterfall that flows in the winter and near the beginning spring. The drop occurs on the East side of El Capitan. There are a few days each February where this fall is lit up by the setting sun and reflects a intense orange.

This waterfall descends in two streams side by side, the eastern one being the better, but both moderately small. The eastern one drops 1,500 feet and the western one 1,600 feet, the uppermost fully-airborne waterfall in Yosemite that runs at a number of points every year. The waters then meet and go down another 500 feet on steep slabs, so the total tallness of these waterfalls is 2,100 feet.

This is a distant and ephemeral falls. Its bottom is over 1500 feet above the valley floor, and it’s top more than 3000. It is most excellent seen from the Southside road just conflicting Bridalveil Falls -- there is no trail that affords a good vision. Scree/Talus Falls

Water flowing over a chaotic mix of rock debris on a slope typically found at the base of a cliff or steep predispose. Some people do not think these to be waterfalls though if the slope is at least 30 degrees then it fits our criteria.

Shannon Falls

Shannon Falls is one of the easiest-to-reach 1000 base+ waterfalls in North America. Situated less than 45 minutes north of Vancouver, British Columbia, Shannon Creek flumes downward the mountain surface and into Howe Sound, one of the majority easy to get to fjords in North America. Usually, the falls are scheduled as being exactly 1100 feet tall, though, they have been re deliberate recently, and a more precise figure was recognized. It's somewhat hard to accept the falls as being truly 1100 feet tall when presentation them from the base, due to important foreshortening. However, when seen as of the air, or from on the waters of Howe Sound, it's clear that this figure is correct. We estimate that merely around 700 feet of the falls can be seen as of the base (as seen below), with slightly more noticeable from the parking area.

Rock Creek Falls

Rock Creek Falls used to authority a mill, and the ruins of the mill are dotted about the inferior portion of the falls. However, the falls are on confidential property and good views of the 150-foot cascade and the ruins are not obtainable, as evidenced in the photo.

Directions: From Hendersonville, drive nine miles south on US 25 and get the Green River Road exit. Twist right and drive 2.7 miles to Rock Creek Road. Turn right again and drive .8 miles to a fork in the road. Take the left fork and park. The falls are to the right.

Pieces of land segment the river (same watercourse) causing the water to fall in sections. Not to be mistaken with different watercourses forming different waterfalls side-by-side as in Parallel / Twin falls.

Slot / Keyhole Falls

Water pushes through a thin area before falling. A keyhole is a special slot as it has a rounded part at the base of the slot resembling the old fashioned keyholes. Some times the water has forced (eroded) out a division of the rock causing real whole water falls from.

Keyhole Falls is the main waterfall along the Lillooet River. The falls thrust 20 meters out of a slot canyon fixed into a thick ash flow, creating the appearance of the water flowing out of a giant old-fashioned keyhole. The falls are found about 10 km northeast of the Meager Creek FSR, a short distance off the Upper Lillooet River FSR.

Pike River Falls

Pike River is a politely large watercourse, and when it hits a ravine that was once a lot utilized for hydropower in Berkshire, the falls are exceptional! This falls essentially has three main drops. By the road there is a first thrust of about 20' that forms the upper falls. The river continues to flow around a small bend and then hits a 10' block waterfall that forms the center falls. There are quite a lot of beautiful old mill bits and pieces in this top falls area. The river then continues down into the gorge approximately a bend, before the lower falls. Don't believe that these aren't worth traveling downstream to see, because they are the main and best falls of the series. The lower falls is a 30' two-tiered thrust that is an overwhelming sight in high water with huge boulders and a nice pond below. Overall, this falls is stunning, falling at least 80' from the upper falls to the end of the inferior plunge. Truly one of the best of Vermont!

suthernland Falls

Waterfall with three cascades coming from Lake Quill which is fed by glacier in turn. In 1880 this locality was reached by the first European - Donald Sutherland. His name was given to the waterfall.

Sutherland Falls, among the world's highest, comprise three spectacular leaps totalling 1,904 ft, and are fed by a small cirque lake, named Lake Quill. The lake occupies a small rock basin that was formed by ice-action during the Ice Age, and spills almost directly over the lip and down a near-vertical mountain-wall into a valley carved by ice. The falls owe part of their impressiveness to the leaping action of the water from the two main ledges on the mountain wall. They are named after Donald Sutherland who, with J. McKay and J. Malcolm, settled at Milford Sound between 1887–80. Sutherland, who discovered the falls, explored much of the surrounding country in search of a new route to Lake Wakatipu.

Going from left to right respectively in the picture, the names and the reasons for naming are, Raja (King): Named so because of it’s apparently 'dignified' and 'serene' fall. Angel Falls

In the western division of Canaima National Park, is the Auyantepuy, one of the biggest and better known "tepuy”. From this tepuy is where the Angel falls are shaped. The fall is 979 meters high (around 3000 ft.), and is the higher waterfall in the world.

There are two ways to observe the Angel Falls. One of them is from the air in an small airplane. The other one is an journey that starts with a 3 hour and a half steering upstream the Carrao River, and then the Churun river. From there, a one hour walk through the forest takes you to the base of the falls. The Angel Falls were named after the american aviator that exposed them in 1937. However, the local indians, the Pemones, previously knew it and called it the ChurĂșn MerĂș. Another place from where you can enjoy the Angel Falls and the Auyantepuy in all its brilliance is the Raton Island. If you ever have the opening to reach the Angel Fall don't miss it. Those images will stay in your recollection for all your life.

Jog Falls

Jog Falls, fashioned by the Sharavathi River falling from a stature of 253 meters (829 ft) is the highest thrust waterfall in India and the 7th genuine in the world. Located in Shimoga District of Karnataka state, these segmented falls are a major tourist magnetism. It is also called by substitute names of Gerusoppe falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi.

Before the onset of monsoon, when there is not much water in the Linganmakki dam, the "mighty" Jog Falls are nearly unrecognizable. Instead of the growl and the spray and the enormous flow of water, there are only a pair of slender streams of water trickling down the face. If you happen to ask any of the local people what happened to the falls, they would tell you that the authorities open the dam only during weekends, when there are a lot of tourists to view it.

During the monsoon of 2007, due to heavy rains the authorities at the falls had to open the dam. Due to this the water falls was seen at its best. Regrettably this also resulted in the flooding of many villages down the river, destroying crops and the fishing industry for weeks. Many of the pictures in the gallery and the picture displayed flanking show the falls during that time.

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls are enormous waterfalls on the Niagara River, spanning the international border untying the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York. The falls are 17 miles (27km) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York, 75 miles (120km) south-southeast of Toronto, Ontario, amid the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York.

Niagara Falls is collected of two major sections parted by Goat Island: Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side of the border and American Falls on the United States side. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls also is positioned on the American side, alienated from the main falls by Luna Island. Niagara Falls were shaped when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation (the last ice age), and water from the newly-formed Great Lakes carved a pathway through the Niagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean. While not remarkably high, the Niagara Falls are very broad. More than six million cubic feet (168,000 m³) of water fall over the peak line every minute in high flow, and almost 4 million cubic feet (110,000 m³) on average. It is the most commanding waterfall in North America.
