Mingo Falls

Mingo Falls is located just outside the park on the Cherokee Indian Reservation.

Mingo Falls is on the Cherokee Indian Reservation (Qualla Boundary), just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. No special permits are required for access to the reservation. At 120 feet tall, the waterfall is one of the tallest and most spectacular in the southern Appalachians.

The hike to the waterfall is only 0.4 miles in length, but is considered moderate in difficulty. Access Trail: Pigeon Creek Trail Trailhead: From Oconaluftee Visitor Center, drive south (toward Cherokee) on US-441 and take the second left onto Big Cove Road. At the first stop sign turn left and drive 4.5 miles to Mingo Falls Campground, where the trail begins.

suthernland Falls

Waterfall with three cascades coming from Lake Quill which is fed by glacier in turn. In 1880 this locality was reached by the first European - Donald Sutherland. His name was given to the waterfall.

Sutherland Falls, among the world's highest, comprise three spectacular leaps totalling 1,904 ft, and are fed by a small cirque lake, named Lake Quill. The lake occupies a small rock basin that was formed by ice-action during the Ice Age, and spills almost directly over the lip and down a near-vertical mountain-wall into a valley carved by ice. The falls owe part of their impressiveness to the leaping action of the water from the two main ledges on the mountain wall. They are named after Donald Sutherland who, with J. McKay and J. Malcolm, settled at Milford Sound between 1887–80. Sutherland, who discovered the falls, explored much of the surrounding country in search of a new route to Lake Wakatipu.

Dudhsagar Waterfalls

There are higher waterfalls in India. This is located in luch tropical jungle. The waterfall is not vertical, it falls over the Deccan plateau. It is possible that we hear about this waterfall just because it is very popular tourism destination in Goa state, which is easily accessible for Europeans.

The falls lie tall in the Mandovi River's turning point and so are not mainly impressive during the dry season. During the cloudburst season however, the falls are transformed into one of the most influential falls in India. Dudhsagar Falls is listed as India's 5th tallest waterfall, and is 227th in the world at 310 m.

Jog Falls created by the Sharavathi River falling from a height of 253 meters (829 ft) is the highest plunge waterfall in India and the 7th deepest in the world. Located in Shimoga District of Karnataka state, these segmented falls are a major tourist attraction. It is also called by alternative names of Gerusoppe falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi. River Sharavathi splits up into four different tracks which are named in accordance with their perceived trajectories. Going from left to right respectively in the picture, the names and the reasons for naming are, Raja (King): Named so because of it’s apparently 'dignified' and 'serene' fall. Roarer: This stream appears out of a mass of rocks, making a tremendous amount of noise. Rocket: Consists of a large volume of water streaming out of a small opening at a very high speed. Rani (Queen) also called Lady: The stream has a winding, twisting trajectory, said to resemble the movements of a female dancer.

Angel Falls

In the western division of Canaima National Park, is the Auyantepuy, one of the biggest and better known "tepuy”. From this tepuy is where the Angel falls are shaped. The fall is 979 meters high (around 3000 ft.), and is the higher waterfall in the world.

There are two ways to observe the Angel Falls. One of them is from the air in an small airplane. The other one is an journey that starts with a 3 hour and a half steering upstream the Carrao River, and then the Churun river. From there, a one hour walk through the forest takes you to the base of the falls. The Angel Falls were named after the american aviator that exposed them in 1937. However, the local indians, the Pemones, previously knew it and called it the Churún Merú. Another place from where you can enjoy the Angel Falls and the Auyantepuy in all its brilliance is the Raton Island. If you ever have the opening to reach the Angel Fall don't miss it. Those images will stay in your recollection for all your life.

Twin Falls

Twin Falls is the county seat and biggest city of Twin Falls County, Idaho, United States. The people was 34,469 at the 2000 census; 2006 estimate found 40,380 people. Twin Falls is the largest city of Idaho's Magic Valley area and the seventh largest in the state. As the largest city in a 100-mile (166-kilometer) radius, Twin Falls serves as a provincial commercial center for both south-central Idaho and northeastern Nevada.

Twin Falls is the major city of the Twin Falls, ID Micropolitan Statistical Area - the state's largest - which officially includes Jerome and Twin Falls Counties. The resort population of Jackpot, Nevada, in Elko County is informally considered part of the greater Twin Falls area.

Jog Falls

Jog Falls, fashioned by the Sharavathi River falling from a stature of 253 meters (829 ft) is the highest thrust waterfall in India and the 7th genuine in the world. Located in Shimoga District of Karnataka state, these segmented falls are a major tourist magnetism. It is also called by substitute names of Gerusoppe falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi.

Before the onset of monsoon, when there is not much water in the Linganmakki dam, the "mighty" Jog Falls are nearly unrecognizable. Instead of the growl and the spray and the enormous flow of water, there are only a pair of slender streams of water trickling down the face. If you happen to ask any of the local people what happened to the falls, they would tell you that the authorities open the dam only during weekends, when there are a lot of tourists to view it.

During the monsoon of 2007, due to heavy rains the authorities at the falls had to open the dam. Due to this the water falls was seen at its best. Regrettably this also resulted in the flooding of many villages down the river, destroying crops and the fishing industry for weeks.
